Organic pigments are carbon-based compounds along with oxygen, nitrogen and hydrogen.  They offer brighter colors than inorganic pigments. Key types are phthalocyanine (copper-based used for greens and blues), quinacridone (reds and violets) and azo (reds, oranges and yellows) pigments.
